How We Accomplish Our Mission
“The Rite of the Parent Aide” Direct care services to families are provided by trained, highly motivated case managers, who go into the kitchens and living rooms of the families who are at risk of abuse and neglect. This service may last from six to twelve months with the main objective being "To re-parent the parent". Of course, support and coping goals are also set for the children, but the prime effort is aimed at the care givers in order to establish safe and effective parenting skills. Case managers, (known as In-home Intervention Specialists), constantly evaluate the dynamics of the families that they work with in order to identify impediments to success. Case managers have enormous ethical and legal responsibility over the safety of their families and also must possess the courage to report wrongdoings to the proper authorities when necessary.
Our Education Program Educational services are provided by experienced teaching staff. Although educational programming is not standard to all Exchange centers, the Winchester Center and its community supporters identified the need for workshops, classes and seminars to promote awareness of positive parenting skills, non-violent discipline and lifestyle choices, and provide a non-threatening forum for care givers to learn more.
The classes offered range from the popular "Children in the Middle (of divorce)" workshop, "Active Parents Toolbox" to "SOS, Help for Parents". As a quality measure, as discussed above, educational programs are under periodic review to ensure topicality, appropriateness and value to the community. Please contact the center for workshop and class information.
